Louis Vuitton Miami: Retail Store Photography in the Design District
I'm an architectural and interior photographer based in New York, and the work takes me well beyond it. This spring it took me somewhere I never mind going, Miami, to photograph a new Louis Vuitton men's store in the Design District.
Louis Vuitton brought me in to capture the space, and shooting retail architecture for a maison like this is a particular kind of fun. The product is the obvious draw, but my job was the room around it — the architecture, the staging, the way the whole environment pulls you through the store.
A space built around a story
The theme is what made this one. The store leans into a vintage toy concept — a wall of miniature cars and delivery vehicles climbing alongside the staircase, a bellhop figure wheeling a trunk, playful staging at every turn. And running underneath it all, a throwback to Louis Vuitton's original trunks, the thing the whole house was built on more than a century ago.
That mix of heritage and play is a gift to photograph. There's a clear focal point — that sweeping staircase and the toy display behind it — and then a dozen smaller moments that reward a closer look. A space with that much intention packed into it gives you something to frame in every direction.
Shooting retail architecture
Photographing a store is its own discipline. You're capturing the design and the architecture the way the brand's team envisioned it — the sightlines, the staging, the flow from the street through the front windows and up the stairs. It has to read as a place, not just a backdrop.
I shoot tethered, so the team could see every frame in real time and we could confirm the angles and details together on the spot. On a high-stakes retail space where the staging is precise and the brand standards are exact, that real-time collaboration is what keeps everyone confident we're getting it right.
