What It's Like to Work Together

Every project starts with a discovery call. Before we talk about shoot dates, image counts, or logistics, I want to understand what you're working on, what you're hoping to do with the images, and what success looks like for you. That conversation shapes everything — how we plan the day, how we approach the space, and how we make sure the final images actually work for your business. It's also a chance for both of us to make sure we're the right fit for each other.

On shoot day, we work tethered. That means every frame I take appears immediately on a large monitor so you can see exactly what we're capturing in real time. If something isn't working, we fix it on the spot. If you want to try a different angle or composition, we try it. By the time we wrap, there are no surprises — you've already seen the work.

Within 24 hours of the shoot, you'll have a full proof gallery in your inbox. Go through it, make your selections, and I'll handle everything else — retouching, final delivery, and licensing. One all-inclusive fee covers the entire process from pre-production through final delivery. No hidden costs, no surprise invoices.

One thing worth considering before your shoot: an interior stylist can make a significant difference in the final images. Even the most beautifully designed space benefits from a fresh set of eyes before the camera comes out — adjusting furniture placement, removing distracting elements, adding finishing touches that read well on camera but might not be obvious in person. If you don't have a stylist in mind I'm happy to make recommendations. It's not required, but for clients who want publication-ready images it's worth the investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I'm based on Long Island and work throughout the New York City area, including the tristate region. I regularly travel for projects and am available for assignments anywhere in the United States. If your project calls for it, I'm happy to make it happen.

  • My work is focused on architectural and interior photography for residential and commercial projects. I work closely with interior designers, architects, and firms in the health, wellness, and hospitality space to create imagery that captures the depth and intention behind each space. Whether it's a luxury residence, a boutique wellness studio, or a commercial interior, every project gets the same level of care and attention.

  • The reasons vary, but at the core it's always the same — they need professional imagery that does justice to their work. Clients come to me for marketing materials, portfolio pieces, publication submissions, and award entries. But one of the most meaningful reasons I hear is legacy. When a designer or architect spends months — sometimes years — on a project, the photographs are what they'll have long after the project is complete. That documentation becomes the lasting record of their vision and craft. I take that responsibility seriously.

  • The best time is when the space is fully complete — furniture installed, styling done, and any finishing touches in place. That said, I understand that timelines don't always cooperate. If a project isn't quite finished, we can talk through what's possible and whether it makes sense to shoot now or wait. I'd rather have that honest conversation upfront than have you end up with images that don't reflect the full vision.

  • Yes — always. Tethered shooting means every frame appears on a large monitor in real time so you can see exactly what we're capturing as it happens. If a composition isn't working, we catch it immediately. If you want to try something different, we try it. It's one of the most important parts of how I work because it means we leave the shoot knowing we got exactly what we needed — not hoping we did.

  • It's worth seriously considering. Even the most beautifully designed space can benefit from a stylist's eye before the camera comes out — adjusting furniture placement, editing out distracting elements, adding finishing touches that photograph well but might not be obvious in person. For clients aiming for publication submissions or editorial-quality images, a stylist can make a meaningful difference in the final result. If you don't have someone in mind I'm happy to make recommendations.

  • My base fee is all-inclusive — it covers pre-production, the shoot day, post-production, retouching, and licensing for your final image selections. Everything is included in one fee so there are no surprise invoices after the fact. If you need images beyond your initial selection, additional images can be added at a per-image rate.

  • Yes — and this is one of the most underused options I offer. When an architect, interior designer, general contractor, and property owner are all involved in a project, the photography cost can be split between them. Everyone gets full access to the images and everyone shares the investment. It's a straightforward way to make professional photography more accessible when multiple stakeholders have an interest in the final result.

  • Licensing defines how and where the images can be used — your website, publications, marketing materials, social media, and beyond. My base packages include licensing for your selected images, and you can always add more images to your license down the road if your needs change. I'll walk you through all of this before we shoot so there are no surprises.

  • Yes. If you go through your proof gallery and decide you want more images than you originally planned for, you can add them at a per-image rate. You're never locked into a fixed number — the proof gallery is yours to review and you decide what works best for your needs and budget.

  • Most projects can be scheduled within two to three weeks of your initial inquiry. I recommend reaching out as soon as you know your project is ready to be photographed so we can find a date that works for both of us. A signed agreement and deposit are required to secure your shoot date.

  • Most projects are photographed over the course of a full day. The exact timing depends on the size and complexity of the space, but I plan each shoot carefully during pre-production so we're making the most of every hour on site.

  • Within 24 hours of the shoot I'll send you a full proof gallery of everything we captured. You go through the proofs and make your final selections for retouching and licensing. Once I receive your selections, final delivery typically takes a few days to two weeks depending on how many images you've chosen and the complexity of the edits.

  • Reach out through the contact form on my website or send me a direct email at brian@brianberkowitzphoto.com. Tell me about your project — what the space is, where it's located, and what you're hoping to do with the images. From there we'll figure out the best path forward together.
