Modern Serenity in East Hampton: A Pool House by Joseph Pagac Architect
While I was out in East Hampton photographing a retail store for Rolex, I made a quick pivot from luxury retail to luxury residential—stopping by this pool house designed by Joseph Pagac Architect. It’s not every day you go from photographing high-end retail to tranquil backyard escapes, but that’s the kind of contrast I love.. This pool house was a minimalist's dream with its clean architectural lines, natural cedar siding, and strong indoor-outdoor connection that made the whole place feel like a summer retreat.
Photographing this project was all about capturing that crisp, peaceful energy you get in the Hamptons in late summer—before the crowds are gone and the air starts to change. I focused on highlighting the thoughtful details: the open-air pergola casting shadows, the umbrellas lined up by the pool, and the glass doors that completely blur the line between the interior and exterior spaces. Even the spiral staircase inside was its own design moment, adding contrast to the otherwise straightforward geometry.
As winter starts creeping in, going back through this shoot gave me one last look at the summer that was. This project wasn’t just about photographing architecture—it was about bottling up a mood. Whether I’m working with designers, architects, or creative teams on residential or retail projects, that’s what I aim to deliver: images that do more than document—they feel like the space.
